Hazel River Healing Retreat

The Mission:

Located in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Hazel River Healing Retreat Center will provide an enriched, natural environment carefully designed for disabled and recovering clients to relax, restore and recover with alternative therapies in a setting that encourages healthy interaction with nature and animals.

It is the intention of Hazel River Healing Retreat Center to conduct quarterly retreats to provide a menu of individualized activities including physical therapy, nutritional counseling, trauma recovery, massage, aquatics activities, dance and movement therapies, equine and pet-assisted therapies, herbals, life coaching, art, photography and many leisure activities.  Retreat participants will share in the spirit of personal growth and recovery with others or work individually with the course presenters.  Retreat participants will be encouraged to enjoy the solitude, creation, self-examination, relaxation and restoration of heart, soul and body healing in the majestic awe-inspiring setting of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Course Presenters:

Anne C. Williams, MPT

Mrs. Williams has 30 years’ experience in the field of physical therapy.  It is her mission to promote optimal function of individuals challenged by pain, and disability; whether acute or chronic in nature. To provide education to the public, which will facilitate wellness through prevention and healing. To establish an environment which offers a team approach, with the opportunity to expand and share knowledge in the pursuit of optimizing patient care. To pursue professional and personal growth through continuing education.

Anne is the owner of Lakeside Manual Physical Therapy, Inc. and Mountainside Physical Therapy, Inc.

Gloria M. Jackson, M.D.

Dr. Jackson has consulted in alternative medicine for 22 years.  In 1985 she founded the Foundation for the Healing Arts where she assists people in improving the quality of their lives.  Her specialties are women’s health issues and mind/body/spirit healing.

Katherine Vivian Rosemond, LPC, CPC, EMT-B


  • Populations: individuals, couples, families, groups; private practice and agency settings
  • Areas: substance abuse, mental health, public safety workers, domestic violence,    dual-diagnosed, HIV/AIDS, disabled, and homeless populations.
  • Trainings provided: on emotional wellness, critical incident stress management, effective teamwork, and leadership.

Certified Professional Coach (Executive, Business, & Personal): 

Brainstorming/thought partner assisting executives,  business owners, and individuals  with creating and defining a clear vision and set of goals to be reached by developing and implementing strategies and concise action plans for their professional and personal success as well as the success of their businesses and organizations

Emergency Medical Services/Leadership:   basic lifesaving, CPR, and emergency medical treatment;  leading/commanding ambulance crews on emergency incidents; and providing training in leadership in EMS for new rescue recruits.

Philip S. Rosemond

Mr. Rosemond is currently the Artistic Director/Advanced Instructor for Mountainside Dance Center & Physical Therapy.  Since 2010 Mr. Rosemond has been responsible for Mission and Vision statements, Management, Marketing, School Manual and rules, events, direction, curriculum, instruction, coaching, personnel management, hire/fire, producing/production, and choreography: ballet, modern dance, therapeutic modalities, etc. Therapeutic training of the injured & elders in: fall prevention, and training, movement, fitness, coordination & balance.  His professional experience includes the following:

  • 21 years professional dancer (1974 – 1995)
  • 38 years dance instructor, in ballet, modern dance, aesthetics & vocabulary.  (1978 – present)
  • 36 years director, choreographer, ballet master, workshops & seminars. (1980 – present)
  • 26 years dance & arts management, consulting, curator & archivist. (1990 to present)
  • 16 years seminar & workshop facilitator in objectives training for performers.  (2000 – present)

 Jami Vlachos, MA, CPC

Ms. Vlachos is a charismatic training and development professional with subject matter expertise in adult learning, “training the trainer”, leadership development, coaching, strategic planning and organizational development.

Jami has been coaching and training for over 20 years. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Family Studies from the University of Maryland and a Master’s in Training and Development (HRD) from Bowie State University.  With advanced certifications in conflict resolution and life, money, and group coaching, Jami is a college professor and a featured performer or guest speaker at retreats, business seminars, college campuses and The Kennedy Center.
